Asian Masters Returns to Wow Diners with Best of Asian Cuisines
This year’s edition delivers higher calibre wines, new pairing concepts, Hyderabadi cuisine and exotic game dinner

Asian Masters is back for its third edition from 1 – 30 November 2012 with exclusive and exquisite gastronomic treats and experiences. This year’s Asian Masters promises to deliver more finesse and exclusivity through the introduction of fine wines and champagnes of higher calibre. It will also be partnering with Singapore’s best dining establishments such as Iggy’s, Restaurant André, Les Amis Group, TungLok Group, Grand Hyatt Singapore, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and Patara Fine Thai Cuisine.
Organised by Sphere Exhibits Pte Ltd (Sphere Exhibits), a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH), and presented by American Express, this year’s Asian Masters promises to satisfy consumers and connoisseurs’ gastronomic curiosity by creating exclusive as well as intimate gourmet dining experiences.
For the first time, Asian Masters is partnering with Community Chest to present the Asian Masters Charity Dinner at Conrad Centennial Singapore on 9 November. Guests will be treated to a truly unique and memorable menu created by the stable of talented chefs from the Les Amis Group.

Highlights to look out for:
i. Asian Masters’ first Oriental Exotic Game Dinner with Shui Jing Fang Baijiu at Tóng Lè Private Dining. This fresh concept pairs seasonal exotic game such as crocodile and pheasant with premium Chinese Baijiu “Shui Jing Fang”. This is a must try for adventurous foodies and diners game enough for a food adventure. 29 November. Price: $358++ per guest.
ii. Meet the winemaker of Cos d’Estournel at Iggy’s. The famed 200 year-old vineyard is a Second Growth Grand Cru Classe (1855 Classification) and the highest classified estate in Saint-Estèphe. The beautiful estate owns the most state-of-the-art viticulture and wine making equipment in the world, which facilitates the production but does not intervene with the natural process of wine making. In the eyes of wine lovers, the wine has been described as “the archetype of a certain style of masculine elegance in which immense power is combined with grace and smoothness.” By the early to mid 19th century, the Cos wines have been commanding prices often higher than the famed First Growths. Mr. J.G. Prats, Chief Executive Officer of the estate, will be introducing six vintages to be paired with Iggy’s specially crafted menu for this one-night only dinner. 26 November. Price: $338++ per guest.
iii. Japan ‘Meats’ France is specially created for meat lovers. For those who have been hankering for Kagoshima Beef and Kurobuta Pork, this is the perfect chance to enjoy both and more at Japanese inspired steakhouse, Fat Cow. Paired with a selection of fine wines from Louis Latour, this is meat lovers’ nirvana. 14 November. Price: $198++ per guest.
iv. Another first for Asian Masters is the pairing of Vietnamese cuisine with German Riesling at Annam Vietnamese Cuisine. Egon Muller is one of the most renowned producers of Rieslings in the world. Its prized wines known for its magnificent longevity will be paired with the elegant and refined cuisine of Chef Nguyen Quoc Nam. Chef Nam will be creating a five course dinner menu boasting a harmonious balance of sweet, salty, sour and bitter flavours that promises to hit all the right notes with diners. 15 November. Price: $158++ per guest.
v. Asian Masters will be featuring Hyderabadi cuisine, one of the most refined cuisines with roots stretching back 200 years ago from India for the first time under Gourmet Signatures. Chef Thulasidaran Dayalan, who hails from Park Hyatt Hyderabad, will be delighting diners with signature dishes such as dum brivani with lamb, chicken, seafood and vegetarian for lunch and dinner at StraitsKitchen, Grand Hyatt Singapore from 1 – 14 November.
vi. Here in Singapore for the first time, the famed husband and wife team forming Bo.lan of Bangkok will mesmerise diners with their modern take of traditional Thai fare using the freshest seasonal produce at Patara Fine Thai Cuisine from 21-27 November for lunch and dinner. For connoisseurs and fans of Thai cuisine, this is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to taste the best of contemporary Thai cuisine.
vii. Chef André Chiang, the owner and chef of the award-winning restaurant André, is known for his philosophy of using only the freshest of seasonal produce. Paired with the bio-dynamic wines from Artisan Cellars and it is a culinary match made in heaven. For those who are curious about bio-dynamic wines, here is a chance to find out more. The production of bio-dynamic wines goes beyond organic farming by incorporating spiritual aspects into its cultivation such as harvesting the grapes according to the moon phases and planets’ alignment. Chef André has specially crafted a 6-8 course menu for this one-night only event on 7 November. Price: $368++ per guest.
Asian Masters Favourites
A crowd pleaser for the last two years, the pairing of hairy crabs with champagne is a sublime dining experience. This year, the quintessential Chinese delicacy is paired with Champagne Louis Roederer, one of the world’s greatest Champagnes, at Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck, Paragon on 20 November.
Another crowd pleaser is the Treasures Dinner which will be held at My Humble House on 22 November. Guests get to indulge in the special creations by Chef Ken Ling and Chef David Liew from the TungLok Group where they present traditional Chinese delicacies with a modern twist with each course specially paired with Martell Cordon Bleu.
The Master’s Workshops will be happening at the Atrium of Great World City from 2 – 4 November at 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 4 pm and 6 pm. 15 local chefs who are members of Singapore Chefs’ Association will be taking centre stage with a series of intimate cooking demonstrations showcasing Asian-inspired dishes, followed by tasting sessions. Among the chefs in the line-up are Chef Daniel Sia of The Disgruntled Chef, Chef Martin Foo of Tóng Lè Private Dining, Chef Eric Neo of InterContinental Singapore and Chef Robin Ho of The Marmalade Group.
